Volunteer Opportunity: Join Our Evening Walking Program team as a Volunteer Mentor! Are you passionate about making a positive impact in your community and promoting health and wellness? Do you believe in the power of support and teamwork to uplift others? If so, we invite you to become a part of our dedicated team at Up and Running Guelph. Volunteers Needed: 2 About Us: Up and Running Guelph is a registered charity that delivers supportive walking and running programs for women looking to manage their mental health, stress or feelings of isolation. Our programs harness the benefits of exercise, nature, and social connections to provide a boost for women managing their mental health and a companion to other treatments. Modelled after a similar program in the UK, Up and Running Guelph was launched in 2016 thanks to the collaborative efforts of our volunteers, Board, and community partners. Position: Evening Walking Program Volunteer Mentor Location: Central Guelph Dates: Wednesday Evenings Times: 6 PM About the Role What You'll Do: As a Volunteer Mentor for the Evening Walking Program you will play a vital role in ensuring the success of our programs. Your responsibilities may include: Monitoring the walk trails to ensure participant safety. Cheering on and motivating participants. Supporting mindfulness and social interactions Supporting administration activities Supporting peers Why Volunteer with Us: Make a meaningful contribution to your community. Promote physical activity and wellness. Gain valuable health and wellness program experience. Meet new people and build lasting connections. Be a part of an inclusive and supportive team. Areas of interest: Mental health, health promotion, fitness, nature, community program delivery, recreation, women's mental health Population: Women 18+ Requirements: No prior experience is necessary. We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds and abilities. You should be enthusiastic, reliable, and committed to creating a positive and inclusive environment for all participants. Volunteers will support outdoor programs and need to be able to support an hour of running or walking.
