Description |
Mentors (children aged 5-12) and Youth Mentors (age 13-18+) work towards the safety and well-being of children and youth by providing opportunities for socialization and development of better life skills. Male identifying Mentors are a high need. Youth Mentors provide one-to-one support for youth aged 13 to 18+. Youth Mentors are ‘walk alongside’ cheerleaders and are positive role models who can assist with schoolwork, job searching, helping to complete post-secondary education applications and just being a friend. Volunteers in this role are encouraged to work with the youth in planning weekly activities in the community. Activities are flexible to the needs and interests of both child and volunteer. Expenses and KM's are reimbursed. Volunteers attend a full day training before starting and are supported throughout their placement with FCSGW.
