| Description |
Dog Foster Volunteers provide temporary, in-home care for dogs who are not yet ready for adoption. By opening your home, you help reduce shelter stress and give dogs the opportunity to thrive in a safe, nurturing environment while they await their forever homes. Key Responsibilities: -Provide daily care, including feeding, fresh water, and exercise -Offer a safe, clean, and comfortable living environment -Support basic training, socialization, and positive behaviour reinforcement -Monitor the dog’s health and behaviour, noting any changes -Administer medication if required (training provided) -Transport the dog to and from veterinary or adoption appointments, if needed -Communicate regularly with the foster coordinator/team and provide updates -Assist with adoption readiness by sharing photos, videos, and personality insights Before you apply, please note that we do have a few requirements for you to volunteer with us: Must be 18 years or older. Must be able to volunteer for 6 consecutive months minimum Foster parents must be committed to bringing the foster animals into the shelter regularly and as needed for check-ups, as requested by GHS. Having your own vehicle is not mandatory, but safe and reliable transportation for animals in care is required. At this time, the dogs in our care are large and may be reactive toward other animals. For everyone’s safety and comfort, we’re looking for foster homes without other pets at this time |
