Description | The Events Coordinator helps bring Yorklands Green Hub’s mission to life by planning and organizing engaging community events that promote environmental education, sustainability, and public awareness. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys creativity, logistics, and connecting people through meaningful experiences. |

Training Details |
Welcome Orientation: Introduction to Yorklands Green Hub’s mission, values, and current programs, with a focus on how events support community engagement. Mentorship Provided: A designated board member or experienced volunteer will guide you through your first events and provide ongoing support. Planning Resources: Access to event checklists, templates, contact lists, and promotional tools to help streamline your work. Tech & Tools Training: Optional tutorials or one-on-one support using tools such as Google Workspace, Eventbrite, Canva, or social media platforms. Learning Opportunities: Invitations to attend relevant workshops or webinars on event planning, nonprofit communications, and public engagement. Collaborative Learning: Opportunities to shadow experienced team members or co-lead events to build confidence and connections. |
Working Conditions |
Hybrid Role: Combination of remote planning and in-person attendance at events and site visits (primarily at the Yorklands site or local venues in Guelph). Flexible Hours: Approx. 4–6 hours per week, with more hours occasionally required during peak event periods (evenings and weekends may be needed). Collaborative Environment: Regular contact with board members, volunteers, and community partners; supported by a friendly and passionate team. Outdoor Component: Many events take place outdoors and may involve variable weather conditions—dress appropriately and accommodations can be made. Technology Use: Regular use of email, video conferencing, and digital tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Canva, Eventbrite, social media platforms). Support Available: Orientation, resources, and ongoing mentorship provided. |
