By volunteering at the Children’s Reading Room (CRR), you are contributing to family literacy enhancement in Guelph. By offering free children’s books for families to keep and free literacy-focused community programs, the CRR removes significant barriers to book ownership and fosters a special relationship with books, reading and community kinship. Our Mission Statement: Through engagement with families in an inclusive community space and distribution of children’s books free of charge, our mission is to enhance literacy skills, family wellness and promote a lifelong love of reading! |
| Description | Attend our drop-in programs and assist with daily programming tasks such as arts and crafts prep, book screening, and shelving. Interact with families and do some one-to-one reading with children. Assist families in finding books (appropriate reading level, topic of interest, recommendation, etc.) |
