Impact Statement Seeds of Diversity is a nationally-incorporated charity that engages Canadians to secure the future of food production and adapt Canadian food systems to new challenges of the next century. Through education and hands-on skills training, gardeners young and old preserve the biodiversity and sustainability of our agricultural food systems.

Youth in Food Systems is a program of Seeds of Diversity that works to support youth in food systems learning, skills development, and agri-food career exploration through several in-person and remote projects across Ontario.
Description We are bringing on several high school youth to join Season 5 of our Food Leader Interview Series! Our youth Interviewers conduct virtual video interviews with professionals working in our food systems (aka Canadian food leaders). This role is responsible for participating in virtual training sessions, designing interview questions, communicating with their selected Interviewee, and carrying out an interview over Zoom.

No prior experience is required! You must currently be a high school student or of high school age (14-19).

Our goal is to provide a flexible and self-driven atmosphere where you’re free to explore your interests, gain new skills, and ultimately contribute to an important youth-drive project to inspire and educate youth about agri-food careers!

Training Details Group training will involve four sessions focused on skills necessary to successfully plan and carry out an interview with a food leader during summer 2025. Trainings will take place weekly in July; exact times TBD. Also available will be peer practice sessions.
Working Conditions Remote project. Youth participants should have access to a device and Internet access for onboarding, training sessions, emailing, researching, and to conduct the interview.
Minimum Duration 6 months or less
Timing Weekday - Evening, Anytime
Time Detail Trainings will take place during weekday evenings (dates TBD). All other tasks will be on a flexible schedule.
