Are you interested in a social opportunity that mixes recreation with learning? Why not offer your services to a popular program? We are looking for volunteers to assist our staff leads with this fun and interactive program. Minds in Motion is presented in person and combines physical activity and mental stimulation to the participants. Minds in Motion unfolds to laughter and chatter, with new friendships forming and stories being shared. Participants have early to mid-stage signs of dementia and are accompanied by their caregivers. Tasks & Responsibilities: •To provide support to the staff lead before, during and after the weekly program. The in person program volunteer will be assisting staff with recreation program set up and take down, tending to participants while staff completes COVID-19 check in, assisting with sanitizing of equipment after the class etc. Full training will be provided prior to starting the role. •Have engaging and meaningful conversations that include a guided recreational activity and mental stimulation activity to a person living with dementia in a group setting. |

Training Details |
•Mandatory general orientation for all new volunteer placements •All Mind in Motion volunteers will attend a training program that will consist of core information about the Mind in Motion Program. Volunteers will also be trained on specific policies and procedures that are relevant to this position. The required training will be completed prior to beginning. Prior to the online training the volunteer will receive the “Volunteer Manual” and be asked to review it prior to attending their training session. •Ongoing training and support through regular contact with the Program Coordinators. |
