| Description |
Tax volunteers prepare and submit fairly straight-forward current year (and possibly prior year) taxes for individuals who apply through Hope House. Tax Volunteers communicate the results of the taxes to the Applicant. If a tax volunteer thinks that the Applicant is not receiving all the benefits that they might qualify for, then they will make the Applicant aware of this and if possible assist the Applicant to apply for the benefits. The following are required: 1. Registration with CVITP (Community Volunteer Income Tax Program) 2. Vulnerable Sector Police Check |
| Training Details |
The CRA provides on-line training sessions for CVITP volunteers, before the start of the tax Season. The Senior Tax Volunteer (at Hope House) will assist with initial tax software setup, will provide initial orientation and then ongoing support as needed. |

Tax preparation can be done remotely at any time throughout the year, based on the availability of the volunteer. In-person tax clinics will be held mornings and afternoons Monday - Thursday, during the tax season at Hope House. Volunteers may sign up for one or more of their choice (at least 1 in-person session is desirable but not mandatory). |
