Position School-Based Group Leader - Site-Based Group Mentoring
Location An assigned elementary school in Guelph & Wellington County
Impact Statement Expand possibilities for young people by introducing them to new activities and increasing their social connections.
Description A School-Based Group Leader will be a positive role model and mentor to a small group of youth in grades 5-8. Two or more volunteers will work together to facilitate a variety of planned group games and activities centred around the themes of mental wellness, physical health, and self-confidence, which are provided to the volunteers in advance. Volunteers provide youth who are in need of support with a positive social environment, and build relationships with youth in order to express care and provide guidance.

Training Details Training is provided on child safety & disclosure, program curriculum, and on relationship building.

Once matched, support from a professional caseworker is provided ongoingly.
Minimum Duration 6 months or less
Timing Weekday - Daytime
Time Detail A weekly 1-hour session time will be planned based on the volunteers' schedules. This meeting time will be consistent over the 7 week group duration.
