| Description |
Provide educational lectures/sessions/talks to grade-school children in alignment with Ontario Curriculum. Sessions are designed to detail awareness of environmental conditions, and bring knowledge on local trees, pollinators, flora and fauna. Responsibilities include: Designing Programs: Create educational content in conjunction with Ontario Curriculum as needed. Program Delivery: Facilitate interactive lessons and activities related to local trees, pollinators, flora and fauna. Engage with Students: Work directly with elementary-aged children, encouraging participation and enthusiasm for environmental topics. Support Program Logistics: Setting up and breaking down program materials and equipment, ensuring a smooth and organized delivery of activities. Promote Environmental Stewardship: Serve as a role model for students, demonstrating and promoting environmentally responsible behaviors. Collaborate with Staff: Work closely with school staff and other volunteers to ensure the program runs effectively and meets its educational goals. Monitor and Report: Observe student engagement and provide feedback to help improve the program. |

School Environment: Volunteers will work primarily in elementary school settings, interacting with students, teachers, and staff in classrooms, gymnasiums, or outdoor areas on school grounds. Physical Activity: The role may involve physical activities such as setting up equipment and participating in outdoor activities, which require a moderate level of physical fitness. Variable Schedule: Volunteers should be prepared for a flexible schedule that aligns with school hours and program needs, including occasional early mornings or afternoons. Weather Conditions: When activities are held outdoors, volunteers may be exposed to various weather conditions. Appropriate attire for outdoor work is necessary. Team Collaboration: Will work closely with other volunteers and school staff, requiring strong teamwork and communication skills. Child-Focused Environment: Working with elementary-aged children requires patience, enthusiasm, and the ability to engage and manage groups of young students effectively. Resource Availability: Access to program materials and resources will be provided, but volunteers may need to transport or help manage these resources during activities. Training and Orientation: Volunteers will receive training and orientation to understand the program’s goals, activities, and safety protocols. |
