Action Read Community Literacy Centre
Action Read is dedicated to helping Guelph adults and families strengthen their literacy, numeracy, digital, and essential skills. Since 1987, we have provided free, accessible education and employability programs that open doors to independence, employment, and lifelong learning. Our community of learners, volunteers, staff, and partners creates a welcoming environment where everyone can succeed.
We offer personalized learning plans that support individual goals and learning styles while reducing barriers such as confidence, technology, transportation, and childcare. Learners build skills step by step, supported by strong relationships and ongoing encouragement. Children build early literacy and numeracy skills.
Each year, more than 200 adult learners receive customized instruction and connection to community supports. Current programs include One-to-One Tutoring, Canadian Adult Education Credential prep, Digital Skills, Financial Literacy, Creative Writing, ESL Reading and Writing, Family Literacy, and short-term employment-focused certificate training such as Food Handling, Smart Serve, and Customer Service.
